Department of Community Medicine (PSM) :

Introduction :
Department of Community Medicine came into existence in the year 2022. The objective of the department is to produce Indian medical graduat in moden medicine who will be well versed and equipped with knowledge, Skill and attitude to combat the various public health problems face by the community of various strata.

Scope of Community Medicine :
To train medical graduate in preventive, promotive and rehabilitative services besides curative care for common health problems.
To orient about national health programme and health care services and Sensitize than about health care activity for preventive, promotive and rehabilitative services

RURAL HEALTH TRAINING CENTRE CHC TUMGAON
CHC Tumgaon Caters a population of approx 2,99000 and is only 16 km from medical college and serves as RHTC for college. Facility is used for teaching and training of Indian medical graduate possible regarding practical aspects of various health Programme and health management and promotive and preventive health service to the patient and community along with the carative services.
MCH Services Normal delivery family planning services, Referrals, NPCDCS screening treatment and Referrals. Delivery conducted per month 30-40 free drug distribution for various ailments. NTEP Programme - sputum microscopy, drug distribution, referrals. UIP, NVBDCP- Treatment, Referrals.

• Health Camp in village Belsonda& Sirpur in Collaboration with state TB Cell.
• Dr. Neha Shivastava, Chaired Session at Vidisha Conference & Raigarh.
• Dr. Ashish Baghel, Session at Raigarh conference.
• NTCP (FGD) - The provisions of the National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP) 2003 have been organized by the Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College, Mahasamund in the villages of the district through focused group discussions in the various nominated villages of Mahasamund District.
• Mass Drugs Administration - Community education survey about Filaria at Saraipali block Mahasamund (C.G.).
• SNC-T.B. - Sub-national certification of T.B. done by faceted of department in collaboration with District T.B. cell.

CME, Workshop, Conference, Seminar, etc Detail :
• CME on Vaccine Preventable Diseases Surveillance in collaboration with WHO (world health organization) on 13-12-2024.
• Seminar - Regular seminar presentation of under graduate students/interns.
• Conference - The department of Community medicine attended IAPSM MP-CG 10th Zonal Conference of MP-CG Chapter IAPSMCON'24 Zonal Conference Raigarh (C.G.)
